The bag that took over the world

Jesus is having this bag now a pre-requisite of living in London???

Are they giving them out free? Do you get money back on your tax return if you buy one? Is there a free Toblerone with every purchase? I went into town the other day and counted TWENTY FIVE one my journey there and back.

I’m not knocking them! They’re great. But still… my god… it’s like an invasion .

I have pulled out of a dark corner of my house this Herve Chapelier navy nylon square-base shopper in protest. I bought it in Paris YES I HAVE BEEN TO PARIS LOOK AT ME for £51 in 1999.

Could not agree more. Still using my HC (black/taupe if you’re asking) from Harvey Nicks, also 1999. Began its life as a changing bag for my millennium (now six foot) baby boy because changing bags in 1999 were beyond HORRENDOUS (as were prams/buggies & maternity wear – except for Formes in Covent Garden). Anyway, bag has since been reincarnated as gym bag; swim bag; beach bag & always, always accompanies me on my travels as capacious and, I think, still stylish hand luggage. I like the Longchamp version but God, they’re everywhere!! P. S. Big fan of Recipe Rifle & loving your new blog x

I want one and don’t want one in equal measures, because everyone has one

I have a large short handled one which I use as a beach bag and have done for years. I like the fact I can pack all many of things in it but I don’t have to use it as hand luggage to get on holiday in the first place. I do keep looking at long handled ones but can’t quite bring myself to buy one…
