Pumpkin carving inspiration

Speaking of forward planning, I’m also having a think about pumpkin carving. It’s actually quite easy. I did two last year and they looked alright and this year I plan to be even more ambitious. Anyway it’s all a terrific excuse to look up pictures of pumpkins on the internet.

I did this one last year and it was surprisingly easy and looked okay

…. so I got overconfident and did this one as well, which was suitably spooky but I did the mouth too large so you could see straight in to the little candles…

“Pumpkin being sick” always has me falling about laughing, but I’m not sure how well it would go down with my neighbours

These fellows would be jolly if you literally have no carving confidence whatsoever

… this year I’m going to have a go at this one…

Pumpkin sicking up guacamole is brilliant for dips, stick all the peppers/breadsticks in his head. I find it funny anyway, not sure much of it was eaten.

I have done the jack skelington pumpkin – it’s a bit fiddly (the mouth in particular) and it took longer than I thought it would. Get the biggest, widest pumpkin you can, and block out at least an hour and a half. Don’t try and do something else at the same time like cooking, or child care. Otherwise you’ll lose a finger.
