Geocaching. This was brought to my attention by my elder sister, who does this with her kids. What it is, if you don’t already know (and I’d never heard of it, so why should you have done) is a kind of massive treasure hunt. You use the Geocache app to locate little hidden boxes of treasure, which you then find and replace something else in the box for someone else to find. I mean, I *think*.
I’ve been looking on the website and at the app and I haven’t completely got my head around it. Plus my kids are too small and obstinate and cussed to really understand going to look for treasure. And what if it’s not actual treasure or exactly the thing they wanted, found within eight seconds of looking – meltdown. But if you have older or better children, I can imagine that this would actually be a sort of totally perfect weekend activity.

your life. While writing a piece for a magazine recently I came across this website – it looks to me like a sort of social tumblr type thing where people upload their own life hacks. Anyway, it’s amusing and occasionally genuinely useful. My top best ever hack comes from my sister and it’s this: if you are travelling as a group and you are in charge of the passports, label the outside of each passport so you can quickly identify whose is whose.

This awesome pom pom beanie from Me + Em – comes with a detachable fluffy pom pom and a spare in a different colour so you can mix and match. I missed out on the pom pom beanie thing last year: might fool me once…
Geocaching – I’ve been following this on Twitter, last couple of years. Got excited to see some hidden near me! Like treasure hunting used to be for us, prehistoric, pre internet… sounds like great fun!
There’s a geocache by the village pond in front of my house, I know as I have occasionally asked the middle aged men, furtively poking into trees if they needed any help… One man in a skirt was very forthcoming about it, I have to be honest his skirt, albeit khaki, has given geocaching dodgy connotations in my mind but perhaps my kids would enjoy it. Treasure hunts that it. Not man skirts.
Oh my God, that Pom Pom beanie is divine and, devastatingly out of my price range. Shall drool from afar!
Please think before you write about “fluffy” pom pom hats and key rings. The fluffy stuff is fur. Animals died cruely for a stupid pom pom. The fur isnt even used to keep you warm. It’s just decoration. Wearing clothes with a fur trimming is just stupid.
