Further Fig news

Two interesting results of my Wild Fig and Cassis chase:

1 Jo Malone is no longer owned by Jo Malone! She sold it to Estee Lauder in 1999 and then left the company completely in 2006. This probably explains the critical lack of stock, but I’m not sure how.

2 Diptyque’s Philosykos is a great substitute for Wild Fig and Cassis. Diptyque is also insanely expensive, but they rather kindly do a roll-on version of this scent, which is only £32 in John Lewis.

I love it when this sort of thing happens as a result of writing something on a blog. Problem solved.

    Hi there Esther,
Thanks for the fig news. You might like also like L’Artisan Profumeur’s Premier Figuier. For my money, one of the better fig scents.
Love your incarnation as The Spike.

Jo Malone on Desert Island Discs explains all about her business and her life and it’s s brilliant listen as she’s really surprising and inspiring.

Have you ever visited http://www.lessenteurs.com in pimlico, ruinously expensive, but such amazing staff, and incredible scents.

Body Shop’s Italian Summer Fig is an excellent cheap alternative. Very green!

Is it weird that I prefer the scent of the Philosykos room spray to the perfume? Or perhaps I am incredibly unsophisticated (quite likely). Can you wear room spray as perfume? It is Diptyque after all….

I am intrigued by the idea of roll-on perfume. Please report back on if it’s any good.
