More on big shirts…

This picture I pinched from Net A Porter is quite inspiring on shirts and the new style jean I’m on about. This chick doesn’t have to brace 2 degree temperatures in order to fetch her kids from school and nursery and can therefore bare her graceful ankles with confidence, but the rest of us have to put on socks for the next few months.

I also see that Boden is doing a MASSIVE SHIRT for SS16, which I really like the look of.

Bold and mad is perpetually the Boden MO and it doesn’t always work but I think, in this instance, it may have done.

You would either wear this under a jumper with the collar up and the cuffs and tails all hanging out (seriously) or wear it long over tights… would that work? Under a sweater? Hard to tell without it in my hands.

I saw a picture recently in Grazia of a girl wearing a HUGE shirt, under a sweater, over bare legs with heeled sandals and ankle socks. She looked amazing, but obviously I don’t expect you to do that.

I just wanted to say that I love getting this in my inbox every morning, so thank you!
Also, on the khaki jacket front, have you seen the new Hush SS16 one?

I bought a huge Madewell white shirt which seems to fit the bill. Finding the right sweater not too baggy not too tight to go over might be more of a problem. I also bought what I thought was the PERFECT denim shirt from Madewell as well until it started coming apart at the seams after two fucking washes . Luckily after your black sweater suggestion I dug it out and wore it to work gaping holes under the arms concealed.

This ankle thing has been causing me concern in the transition between skinnies to girlfriend jeans. Every Instagram fashionista is rocking them with stilettos – which is all well and good if you’re just popping outside to have your picture taken for social media but not so realistic IRL.

Even when I see people wearing them with trainers they are doing the bare ankle thing.

    I remain confused.

I think in winter all bets are kind of off – especially right now when it’s so bloody cold. I have been wearing my boyfriends with socks – I am used to how it looks although other people might just think “Oh fucking hell no”. But when temps are literally plunging to minuses, you don’t need to be a fashion hero. Stick with your skinnies and boots or leggings and boots and a parka and a hat and fuck the boyfriends. if you know what I mean. but come spring if I see you in a pair of skinny jeans I am going to be really disappointed.

        Noted.

Also, I seem to be mixing denim terminology – girlfriend/boyfriend etc.

Going to try the sock thing.

        Gosh it’s tough out there…

Bit of a high street option here but I was in Next during my lunch break (I know) and saw a girl I know who is super stylish looking at an enormous chambray shirt which was amazing for £24. So after a quick chat about modern-dance class for the 7yr old I copied her and got one too. They have it in white also.

Re: bare ankles. They are loathsome but effective: popsocks.
