I picked up this mink-coloured slip dress for £10 in a sale in Anthropolgie about 6 years ago with no real thought as to when I’d wear it (this is the way I used to shop).
This dress has survived many wardrobe culls. I don’t know why as it’s monstrously unflattering. For fun I put it over this black turtleneck for a bit of a fun 90s grunge day. It looks fine here when I am sitting down but standing up it is a disaster – the seams ripple cheaply over one’s hips to make them look even wider than the monumental girth they actually inhabit and it’s a terrible length. The mystery as to why this was only £10 is revealed at last.
Anyway enjoy your last hurrah, little dress. It’s to the Oxfam shelf with you this evening.
I now have an image of you scooting everywhere all day long sitting on an office desk chair, refusing to stand up at any point!! RIP little dress!!
no I stood up, but mostly wore a coat over the whole ensemble to reduce hideousness
Oh, you’ve just reminded me that I NEED to buy a black polo neck. Every few days I remember that owning one will instantly make three-quarters of my wardrobe wearable through the winter (September to June – I live in the west of Scotland), and then I forget again. I’m going to write it on my hand AS SOON AS I’ve typed this message.

Where’s your polo neck from Esther?
Topshop – they’ve still got them. though not sure how much I’d recommend it – it’s a bit tight round the tummy and the material is a bit unstretchy – but it’s good for putting under shirts/dresses or wearing with high-waisted things xx
