I absolutely adore this kids book – Ten Little Pirates – about the misadventures of, well, ten little pirates. Great pictures, fun story and nice to read, which isn’t something you can say about all kids books (I’m looking at you, The Little Engine That Could). Perfect for the under-5s.
If you like this book, there are two more: Ten Little Dinosaurs and Ten Little Princesses. 10/10.
My little pirate LOVES the poo-dodging dinosaurs…!
Yes, we discovered 10 little princesses in Tesco one bleak morning, but it’s actually really fun and if I remember rightly (*spoiler alert!) the last princess rescues everyone and it’s all kick-ass girl-power…I bought it for my goddaughter!!
Thank you- just ordered this for a birthday present. Apparently “10 little monsters” are coming soon. x
EXCITED
I will look out for this! Other favourite kids’ books: ‘The Princess and the Pony’ (SO much less annoyingly girlie than it sounds); ‘I Need a Wee’, ‘The Little Mole Who Knew it Was None of His Business’; and the excellent ‘Pants’ and ‘More Pants’ board books. Yes, all of these have an element of bottom-based humour. Because that is what children like.
oh god we LOVE the princess and the pony here. hilarious
as usual spot on- thanks for the tip. my 3 and half year old is obsessed with the most dire disney princess stories at the moment. they are so badly written i have taken a pen to them to correct the grammar. I have bought this and her head has turned slightly. So now we are down to one non-princess to 15 princess books which in my world is a small victory. Ps Snow White basically marries her step brother- isnt that illegal?
