That Dinny Hall discount code is SPIKE15 – and it’s valid for all gold and silver jewellery up to 14k. Go go go!
These are the classic small gold hoops that I have, which I think may now have sold out, but there are plenty of other classic gold hoops to choose from.
More things that caught my eye that you might ask for…
Wrist warmers
These from Somerville Scarves caught my eye because they are nice and long and also have thumbholes. Brora also do a few long wrist warmers, but there are more colour ways and options available at Somerville.
They also do these really pretty pyjamas, which have the all important elasticated waist so no messing about with drawstrings after your 3am wee. (I’ve also got a massive soft spot for a small business, as you know).
Stella and Dot are a business that are absolutely all over my Instagram at the moment, which – because I am perverse and contrary – makes me instantly suspicious. But, in fact, their stock is good … I particularly like this travel jewellery bag in a jaunty Ikat and this excellent non-designer burgundy suede bag, which reminds me a lot of that Mansur Gavriel bucket bag I might be obsessed by (considering how many times a day I think about it) but less £ and probably more practical.
If you’re after something to financially hurt loved ones, I have got a lot of time for a pair of these classic Blahnik heels.
Or these white trainers
Or this JW Anderson sporty top. I don’t know why I love this so much, I just do. It’s sort of in the Balenciaga hoodie family of mad things you end up wanting when you’ve got pretty much everything else you could possibly want or need.
Lurching back to jewellery, if you want to point a few fingers at the origin of the very heavy celestial theme to gems at the moment, you could do worse than look at Sasha Samuel, a New York-based jeweller, who does some extremely beautiful stuff, which is just ever so slightly unaffordable. You also have to ship it from the US, which I always thinks adds frisson of excitement.
Didn’t think I wanted anything for Christmas but! Those trainers!!!
Also I’m happy to think you could wear all of those things together on Christmas morning, like when you were ten, eating choc and dancing to your new music.
YES NICHOLA SO THIS
That top really reminds me of Liam and Robbie at Glastonbury in the mid-nineties and for that nostalgia hit (though urgh at the time) I like it too.
YES
Oooh the rainbow wrist warmers from Somerville are my heart’s desire. Sadly I already asked for some from somewhere else and my husband has bought them – cue minor rantage about companies using massively logo’d packaging at Christmas, so absolutely no effing surprise at all when a box arrives addressed to my husband branded all over – but if they mitigate my chronic Raynaud’s (dead fingers if even slightly chilly) then I shall demand more pairs and the rainbow lovelies WILL BE MINE.
Also I might have had to wipe the screen a bit when I saw the Manolos ….
ha hA! I know – and very comfortable too those Manolos.
Is that actually true? Or are they comfortable for a pair of heels? My feel are so happy wearing flat shoes* and I shudder when I think that my mother HAD to wear heels every day of her entire career.
*ive recently started buying “man shoes” for work. They’re designed for women but they look like men’s business shoes and they are a revelation. I can walk for miles without my feet getting even the tiniest bit sore. Is amazing.
Elena – not as comfortable as men’s shoes but they will not have you screaming in agony by 8.30pm
Sophie my hands also freeze in any temperature and I have found fur cuffs (e.g. fox or possum) are life changing. If you can get over wearing what looks like a small animal on your wrists. SO WARM.
(I am generally anti-fur but possum is a huge pest in New Zealand)
Thank you! Happily for me I have no problem with fur (and I knew possum was a pest). Am really hoping that husband did buy the possum ones not the woollen ones I modestly asked for. He knows me well so fingers crossed. Meanwhile am dreading an imminent rootle in the freezer to locate supper….
Love that jacket also. You could definitely threaten to chin sporty spice in that. I’ve had some nice things from Stella and Dot – a pair of gold shield earrings I’ve worn to death (wearing them now) and my ears haven’t turned green or fallen off as they are prone to with costume jewellery. Also cheap but nice stacking rings and a necklace. BUT don’t think returns is up to much, possibly because of this weird presenter business they do. I once had a bracelet break and I could hear the echo of my own voice coming back to me from the depths of their customer service department, and it sounded like “I don’t give a crap”. So careful as you go.
Those wrist warmers! I’ve put 4 pairs in my basket – may have go back and rein myself in! I bought a necklace from Stella & Dot years ago when a friend had a party – it hasn’t broken or gone green and it has become my most worn item of jewellery EVER!
My Dinny Halls arrived two days ago and I did a little squeal before handing over the package to Mr W. When I was looking for them I had a little jaunt to their counter in Liberty and it was all so pretty I felt about ten again. I always buy my own gifts as he is hopeless at shopping but then go into a massive sulk if there are no surprises under the tree for me…Poor man!
“but then go into a massive sulk if there are no surprises under the tree for me…“
Yep, me too. Poor husbands all.
Oh don’t feel sorry for them they just need to get their arses in gear and pay attention once in a while. My husband can organise a stag do no problem, if he can’t organise himself through a shop door to get the thing I’ve mentioned 500 times under his nose in varying degrees of bleeding obviousness, then I’ll enjoy my sulk with a side of mild resentment, thank you very much. Fa la la la la la la la…
Hi, quick question does the discount for DH work in store or just online? Thanks H
Hi Harriet – works in the Hampstead store and online xx
THE SATC MOVIE SHOES OMG
Not a gift suggestion (unless gifts to myself count WHICH THEY DO), but I can report the M&S copies of those Manolos are also very comfortable and a mere 35 quid.
yes Deb I have seen those and wondered…
