Max Factor

Here is a full run-down of the Max Factor products I used on my live Stories. Over on the Boots website are also videos of Caroline Barnes, giving a slightly more visually-appealing and pro make up demos than mine.

First the foundation was this:

The colour I used is Golden 75, which was the colour a lot of us used in the tutorial, so if you are roughly my colour, go for it. It has a primer element to it, which means that the colour will adjust to your skin tone.

The concealer I used was MasterTouch All Day Concealer in Fair 306 – rather frustratingly not listed online at Boots, but will be available at counters. I mean, it’s hard not to get pissed off about discrepancies like that, but I suppose that’s just life isn’t it.

Brow pencil (in blonde):

This is the very innovative liquid eyeliner in the funny paddle-shape, which I rather like, though might be total anathema to some of you:

The reviews for this aren’t great just because I don’t think they quite got how to use the shape of it.

The highlighter – remember to apply it in a “C” shape

And finally – the new Dark Magic mascara! MF are seriously proud of this one.

The bronzer, alas, isn’t listed on the Boots website 🙁 – and the blush I used was Bobbi Brown in Nectar.

THIS is the amazing nail polish I was talking about! Love this so hard and I never wear nail varnish. Very easy to apply, dries quickly and such a jaunty colour. The bloody picture won’t upload on here because, I don’t know, THE INTERNET HATES ME? But the link should still work.

Morning!

Re: the eyeliner. I bought it a few months back. I like it because I’m cackhanded with makeup and flicky cat’s eye liner is never going to happen… sigh (once a grunge era indie girl, always….) HOWEVER, it doesn’t stay put. It transfers onto my brow bone. This may be user error rather than the product. Like I said, I’m cackhanded…

Loved that tutorial. It’s like having a great co-worker chatting on the opposite desk, helping to distract me from my work. AND I learnt something too. Now off to procrastinate further by applying my tight line…

re: the Boots website. Can you start some sort of campaign to drag it into 2018? It is completely shit and quite often, you can’t get on it because they’re “updating” or “re-stocking”. HELLO???? WHAT?!?! It’s dire and gives me heartburn. Which is a shame because I then can’t bulk buy Nexium before I have a lie down. Thank you.

It’s impossibly archaic which is mad given how much of a cornerstone of British retail it is. Appreciate the post & pics though x

Oh my EFFING GEE I hate the Boots website so much. Why is it from 1998? Why is their search function so shit? Why, when you buy stuff online, do they send you an email telling you to wait for your order to ‘be accepted’ (HELLO I HAVE PAID FOR IT) then another one to tell you it’s been accepted, then one to tell you it’s preparing for despatch, then one when it’s been despatched? Grrr

Properly useful and doable tutorial! Which Real Techniques brushes did you use? I’ve been smudging everything around with my fingers all these years! Time I invested in proper equipment.

The highlighter “c” is a new one for me and I like the look of it; does it highlight crows feet though? Not that you have crows feet! I do have them, so try to steer clear of anything that may settle, crease, highlight or otherwise add to the aging of my face…😂😂

I bought the nude lip and the highlighter after watching your insta stories (and Chloe SS), love both products, so thank you. Always felt MF were far too fuddy duddy, not to mention the horrendous pan stick I wore in my teenage years. Also, their 2000 calories mascara is rubbish, feels like dirt and took 3 days to get that shit off my eyelashes. LOng live Blinc mascara.

Ha ha! Lux this is EXACTLY the kind of image Max Factor want to shake off, and they are so energetically and genuinely going after the 35 – 55 market that I think they deserve some respect for it. xxx

Really enjoyed the insta stories- tried tight lining my eyes and it was AMAZING! I have super blonde lashes and brows so it really enhanced my features- I live in the sticks but quite keen on the foundation and the coverage looked good on you. I obviously could get it delivered but like working the make up counters before purchasing x

Laura you really kind of DO have to approach the counters before buying something like foundation, you guess at your peril xx

Cannot believe I missed your ‘ live’ tutorial, I now have no idea what is meant by applying lighlighter in a ‘ C’ shape. I must pay more attention
