Whether or not to get these two white dresses from H&M, who are having the most fabulous season.
I really do having a flipping great shitload of summer wear at the moment, all of which I love. I 100% don’t need these. Though maybe I will regret it because they both look very Chloe? And white cotton dresses are just so bang right now.
And god if I saw someone else wearing them I would freak and there are only a few left… so maybe I will buy them after all??? Help me.
And this one – ignore how it has been styled and just imagine it with the collar open and the breeze flowing round your areas just so… mmmm…
Get the second one – I’ve been deliberating about it for days and I really want to buy it but at 6ft I think it will be indecently short on me. So really you’ll be buying and wearing it FOR me.
Buy them! You’ll regret if you don’t and it’s so bloody hot that there’s no such hing as “too much” summer wear. Plus you need both as they’re white and just asking for a small child’s chocolate handprint on them so you’ll need one to wear when t’other is in the wash.
LUCKILY my children have mainly stopped doing shit like that… it’s the only reason I would ever remotely consider wearing white.
I like the first better. Even imagining the breeze around my areas the sleeves might be annoying on the second one.
Though you may regret it when normal summer resumes and you’re back in your parka weeping over all the floaty dresses that didn’t reach their full potential.
Love the first one, the second not so much. This heats just going on and on, you absolutely need one of these.
(I ordered the lemon print monsoon dress but it reached past my ankles (I’m very short) so regretfully sent it back) May have to go for a wander in H&M
Oh Sharon alas! Yes it is very long… this is why we all need a good tailor in our lives x
I haven’t managed to get to a Monsoon to try it on yet, but I am already thinking that if it fits I will hack the bottom off it, knowing that the length will likely not suit but being in love with the print!
2 go into the wardrobe, 2 go out of the wardrobe to charity shop/friends/school bring and buy etc x
If you buy both of them, then 2 dresses “have” to leave your wardrobe……..by way of friends/charity shop/school bring and buy?
Sharon yes there is always that approach
I tried the first one on and sizing was weird on me – top half baggy and falling down off shoulders despite large boobs that do not usually fit into a size 8. Bottom half was good and true to size. I am short waisted with narrow shoulders so if you are long waisted with broader shoulders it may suit you to a t. Dress 2 looked good on the rack but quite wide so I did not try because short + booby looks quite wide enough already. Always worth ordering and trying on, don’t you think?
Going to take the opposite tack – leave them, you don’t need them. Enjoy looking online and dreaming, then mentally gift them to someone else xx
Husband just looked over at my phone and said “shocking, you’re looking at white tunics!” Lol
The first one would look so cute on you but is it easy to wash and needing negligible ironing? That tends to be my line in the sand. I love H&M this season, too – bought a blue and white beachy dress at your recommendation, wore it on hols and am wearing it to work today as it is so frigging hot (not complaining btw).
I have noticed that I buy heavily in summer but hate winter so much that I live in jeans and Uniqlo sweaters. How can we get the balance right, oh guru? A future Spike post, I hope?
Cindy winter is ghastly. We all just hide and think that’s the only thing to be done. I think I might have to do something on jazzy winter coats though. I love my Canada Goose but also hate it.
Yes order them! Just do it quickly click click and then it doesn’t count. 2nd ones my fave. Would look great with a camo jacket when this INFERNAL weather ends
I think these are both beautiful, but they have viscose inner slip-things and I am opposed to them.
I’m old. They both look like nighties to me. But I realise I’m not meant to be wearing stuff like that, so crack on. PS Reading your posts and comments is what I imagine having a daughter in her thirties would be like, without the grandchildren duties. Result!
Neither
lol
But how do you wear dresses like this and 1) not show your pants every time you bend over to pick something up/put a child in a car seat/ do anything at all? I seem to spend the whole time desperately doing a weird sideways, legs together bending motion whilst holding on to the bottom of the dress. Or 2) not have to walk like John Wayne because of thigh chafing? I am a size 10, so it could just be extra fat, but seems unlikely, and I’m sure I’ve seen bigger women happily breezing around in dresses. Please help! I really want to wear dresses, I love the thought of breezy nether regions, but I cannot seem to solve these two problems…
Madeleine these are for non-practical activities only! Like going to the beach or naffing around in the garden. Though I have not bought either possibly unconsciously with no answers to those questions either
Speaking of H and M having a good season, I have seen 5 people in the same H and M dress in the past couple of days (not either of these two) It’s starting to feel weird! Like they’re being assimilated. Am I next?!
WHICH DRESS?!
I can’t find a link it’s a yellow striped jersey affair. Worn with an extremely cheery air so it must have cost next to nothing.
