Asos

Alright look away NOW if you don’t want to spend any money – I’m only posting this because it’s 20% off at Asos right now with the code GOFORIT…

This leopard-print coat, which I can’t wear but you might be able to

Really love this cardi, I’d never take it off

If you haven’t got a leopard skirt and you want one, this is a great one from super cool Gestutz

If you don’t want to do leopard, do this instead

Someone needs to own these – not sure I’ve got anyone swanky enough to wear them to, but you might

A rare find! Don’t laugh – a classic Stan Smith with rip straps in blue. Rip straps are ESSENTIAL if you want to keep your Smiths ice white as they don’t go grey like the laces do. Plus, easier to do up.

I don’t understand why I love these so much, but I do.

Errr, yes please. Bit iffy about the price but they may well be killah

Hideous trainers? Come on you know you secretly want to give them a whirl… I totally am.

Absolute classic. Wear with the hid trainers

This is the new hat shape – a kind of boaterish one… you can thank Dior. Don’t wear with the camel coat or you will look like a sand dune.

I bought such a lovely pair of taupe Nike’s with 20% off. Thought that was it but I love the leopard print skirt, even though it’s totally impractical for running about after a toddler. Maybe if I buy it I’ll have to actually go out somewhere with actual adults…

I would say maybe hold off on the skirt unless you go out for dinner/meet clients AT LEAST once a week xx

Hmm Stan Smiths make my feet look enormous. Did you do a post on trainers before? Are Air & Grace worth the ££??

Nicola it really is a question of what suits your feet. Air&GRace have many fans – try a pair and you can always send them back! xx

“Rip strips” … Does it make me very, very old that I call it “velcro”? Whatever, I have Supergas with straps like this and agree they are brilliant if you are constantly changing shoes.

Would leopard coat plus bejewelled slippers be OTT for a rural Waitrose run before noon?

A leopard coat and jewelled slippers over your pyjamas would look terrific. I call them rip straps! But feel free to call them Velcro, I am very inclusive in that way

Oh, but Esther, I would follow you anywhere, but hideous trainers? Really? Don’t
they look a bit imbecilic? Not sexy, not professional, not styley, just a bit brainless and silly? Perhaps in my slippers tonight beside my bath I am looking at this entirely wrongly. PS I am not even engaging on leopard, it’s just too Bett Lynch to contemplate.

Mary-Anne I’m really not sure myself. I may well take ownership of my pair and send them straight back. But, I believe entirely and completely that it is extremely important to at least consider all modernisation, not rule anything out, (until you have completely ruled it out). New shapes in fashion can often seem revolting and unthinkable at first. Keeping an open mind is key. Plus they will be incredibly comfortable.

FFS I read this too late! Now I’m going to have to buy the coat full price as it is so pretty and I’ve been looking out for a camel coat all summer (v dedicated/insane).

I saw a girl in the street during her lunch break today and she looked amazing with a tartan midi dress and some insane trainers. I then realised the trainers were Chanel and didn’t covert them so much. The cardigan you have here is something I would live in, but the price point is a bit high for something I’d wear in the evenings over my pyjamas, even if it was every night. Since when did ASOS get expensive?
