This year’s charity appeal is for Solace Women’s Aid, who provide advice and support to the victims of trafficking and girls and women escaping domestic violence and abuse, which increases around Christmas.
Your donation will help train advisors to answer that first critical phone call from a woman in trouble, pay for counselling sessions, give her and her children essential items to start a new life.
A percentage of my cyber week affiliate link earnings will go to this charity, so you can consider that your donation if you like, but if you wanted to donate independently that would be great, too. Here is a link. I know this is a difficult time of year when bloody everyone is asking for money.
You can also donate essential items, which they will collect if you are in or near London, here is more information.
I am very grateful to Annie Kelly for choosing this charity for The Spike this year. Annie is a human rights journalist for The Guardian, specialising in people trafficking and all kinds of horrendous stuff and fuck I don’t know how she does her job but she does and she is really brave about it.
Thanks for this, hadn’t heard of this charity and sounds like it’s doing great things.
Maybe people should think about what these women and children are enduring, and spend less time trolling people on Twitter. Chin up xx
Thanks Gemma! Yes this is a small charity working hard in a niche area and I’m glad to draw attention to it. And… yes… online trolls …:(
