It’s here! My under-eye concealer entitled “F*ck, I’m Flawless” in shade 3.5 has arrived. And I’m slightly galled to have to tell you that it’s excellent. I’m not going to show you pictures because …. I just don’t want to…. so you will have to take my word for it, but I’m very impressed. And when have I ever lied to you? No, apart from that time. When else?
It goes on feeling a little dry and like the colour is too light but if you brush it on properly, (this is definitely a make-up range that assumes you’re using brushes), and then leave it for five minutes the next time you look in the mirror: ta da! It really does the job and, for £24, does not budge.
I ought to note here that it doesn’t look like Il Makiage signs up to any affiliate link program, (i.e. the thing that makes me money if you buy something through a link here), which is always annoying for me but also deserves some respect I think.
Another new product that arrived was from Trish McEvoy. Jay, the lady who does the PR, read in the previous post that I had run out of my Trish McEvoy under-eye thing and so kindly sent me something new to try, even though my days of being a truly influential influencer are over.
This product is called the Correct and Even Full-Face Protector. Trish McEvoy is one of those brands that flies slightly under the radar – they do not spend millions on marketing and the product is expensive – so it is neither a cheap quick fix nor does it say CHANEL all over it. This, for example, is £40.
But in its defence, it is the most tremendous quality. It is a general all-over concealer rather than specifically for the under-eye. It is highly, highly pigmented so a little goes a very long way. It has a sponge applicator, which I know occasionally puts some people off. But it is a really very brilliant all-purpose concealer and works well dabbed on the inner corner of the eye as a brightener.
And that’s all I’ve got to say today, unless you want to hear my thoughts on this cold I’ve got.
Esther, I suspect you are waaaay more influential than you give yourself credit for …
Ha ha! I sometimes tell myself that at 3am but I don’t think so. I’m glad it seems that way though x
Esther, do you have any views on Trinny London? I have been under a self imposed make up buying ban but I am still tempted and hovering over the website (i’ve hit the the age where less is more but none is scary).
I’ve been using Trinny London BFF in Izzy (I’m pale) for a good few months now and love it. The only concealer I’ve tried that doesn’t make me look worse. I’m 45 and 6 o’clock starts show on my face.
I have only heard good things about Trinny London and the things I have tried (a lip cream, two different eye things) are great quality with a lot of pigment so in theory, it all looks good. I have heard good reports back on the BFF cream too. The only issue – as with Il Makiage – is of course the dreaded colour match!
Hello! I wrote about Trinny London a while ago (if you use the search function it will come up) and the comments were all fave reviews. I have also, just because I’ve been asked a lot, ordered some under-eye thing and I will give it a whirl on your behalf x
Don’t underesthermate your influence. #doyoulikewhatIdidthere #possiblystilltipsy
I appreciate the thought that went into that
