I think Trinny London might really be a thing.
I was sent some gifts a while ago – last year I think. A lip thing and two eye things and I loved the click-together packaging where you snap little pots of stuff together into a handy tube, plus the option of buying empty pots for your “stack” in which to decant a favourite cream EG LANSINOH.
I never have the courage of my convictions, so I was heartened by comments left by Spikers saying “I’ve got stuff from Trinny London and it’s great.”
Anyway on my recent concealer hunt, even though that one from Il Makiage is perfectly fine I thought “fuck it” and bought the Trinny London BFF Eye Serum Concealer having taken their online Match2Me test.
It arrived today and it’s fabulous – even better, dare I say it, even than the Il Makiage thing. It’s really creamy and a very good colour and while people make a song and dance about this being an important thing over the age of 40 – like being over 40 is a disease (maybe it is?) – a creamy under-eye concealer is important at any age. It’s not like when you’re 29 you want some dry chalky thing.
Trinny London also got a great press work-out this weekend in both The Times and Sunday Times beauty columns, particularly for the new BFF De-Stress Tinted Serum, which is exactly what it sounds like it is.
I was also, alongside my paid-for eye serum, sent three very generously-sized testers and you know how we bloggers fuxxing love a freebie amirite?
And let me tell you Trinny London has its work cut out to cheer me up right now: I’m at the tail-end of a horrible cold and I’ve got a couple of PMT zits that have changed the shape of my chin. Plus I’ve got the actual PMT, which makes everything horrendous with its fire-dose of bad hormones, flatulence and bloating. I mean it’s not like I’m Gigi Hadid at the best of times but right now I look very bad.
How about you? Do you have any Trinny London products that you particularly like? Please leave a comment in the handy box below.
Yes I’ve used it since it started & it’s great – I use the BFF, the bronzer, the concealer and the under eye BFF every day. Back in the old days, I did a make up lesson with my friend at Trinny HQ and it was well worth the bother. The upshot was you need to do a lot more patting in than you’d think. Patience is a virtue… The stuff lasts for ages too – by some miracle! Xx
patting!
I just bought Trinny products for the first time! Came last week. The BFF De-stress is fantastic. Also bought a cheek/lips tint, Just a Touch, Eye2Eye and the Miracle blur is AMAZING…. Totally sold on these products. Now the problem is that I want to buy EVERYTHING in EVERY colour and I am not even going anywhere to wear the damn stuff!
I got very much into Trinny London during the first lockdown and have slowly got rid of all my old makeup and replaced it with Trinny. I love the packaging, I love the products and I love how my face looks when I’ve done my make up. I put make up on every day even though no one’s going anywhere. I love how inclusive the range is, having shades for such a wide range of skin colours and models up to their 80’s. I am about to turn 40 and my Mum has now also got into Trinny and I can tell when we face time because her skin also looks fab! Long live Trinny London!
I know it’s so great! Miracle Blur is just a total NEW FACE
I like Trinny’s no-nonsense style in her ads. She’s hilarious.
My question is more general about concealer – I just don’t get on with it. I’ve tried several good ones like Bobbi Brown, Bare Skin, Laura Mercier etc and *they all* just collect in my fine lines and make me look much worse! And why put it on *over* your base cos then it just shows up like weird ski mask reverse tan? So I’ve given up really.
Am I doing it wrong? Too much? Too little?
try brushing or sponging a foundation/tinted primer or whatever up to the eye and then use a concealer ONLY in the inner corner of your eye and then about an inch below your eye and then buff it in, if that makes any sense at all. Those are the areas that are good to brighten up without patting actual concealer around your eyes. If your skin is particularly fine then yes, a thicker concealer is no good
I love Trinny London. Not being very adventurous with make-up I love that you can layer it as lightly as you wish for a really natural polished finish or really go for it for a highly glamorous look. I am very pleased to hear that testers have now been introduced as I have made a couple of mistake purchases but the joy is that they mix really well together so even the mistakes do get used. I use BFF whenever I go out, JAT to cover age spots etc, BFF Eye if necessary & a range of lip & eye products. My next order will definitely be for the De-stress for that happy day when I go out out again.
I’ve been using the Eye2Eye since mask wearing became a thing to stop my eyes becoming 2 piss-holes in the snow. It really works and doesn’t slide all over the place and you can layer it up for best effect. Face finish is brilliant too as it obliterates your oily patches and doesn’t fall all over the place like a face powder does.
But I didn’t come here just to praise Trinny London product. You really get the measure of a company if something goes wrong and you see what they do to make is all better. In February, I ordered some stuff from them but they sent it to my elderly pen pal in Sidcup whose address they shouldn’t even have had. I went a bit berserk because they said it couldn’t be their fault and refused to look into it further. I did my own investigations and discovered that Shopify (basts) had left a rogue cookie on my machine so it wasn’t Trinny London’s fault at all.
But the actual customer service manager of Trinny called me to apologise after I’d kicked off about how they weren’t willing to help. This was nice of her as I’d been a bit of a bitch to her colleague (sorry) and I feel the least I can do now is to big them up here. Which they deserve, their stuff is great and so is the service.
Julie I am usually so pathetic about everything and sometimes when I go mad I go completely over the top and it NEVER works, I’m always the one who has to call and say sorry so you were doing something right
I also have the BFF de-stress which I’m loving. Definitely feels quite plumping on the skin with a decent coverage. I have a couple of the lip2cheek products which I use often, especially ‘Phoebe’ described as a ‘faded watermelon red‘ – tend to use this more on lips than cheeks. Also loving the Trish McEvoy ‘correct and even full-face protector’ – thanks for the tip! xx
I’m completely sold on the whole Trinny collection. I have been a bit of a bugger for using way too much powder in the past and I absolutely LOVE the way my face looks using trinny products. I love the stacking pots, the free one that comes with bff or De stress is so useful. I use bff, de stress, the under eye product, miracle blur for large pores around my nose, the face finish instead of powder and I’m so happy with how my skin looks. I just branched out into Some of the eye shadow products and was super sceptical but they have won me over too. The new ‘three free samples’ is just such an excellent idea, they are generous enough for you to use for ages and I have put them into spare pots to add to my stack.
I have also had a virtual make up session with a Trinny MUA, you pay £25 and have about 40 minutes with them on zoom And then get the £25 back off any purchases. Such a great idea, the MUA was lovely and really helpful, didn’t push me to buy stuff but certainly explained application and which colours would suit me etc.
Finally, sorry long post but I’m a bit evangelical about it, I like that there are so many ethnicities represented on the website so you can find a ‘face’ similar to yours and see which products they use/recommend. It feels very deliberately inclusive which is such a good thing.
yes it’s good to see all brands repping a wider range of skin tones across the spectrum
I will try this concealer. Actually when you are over 40 or mid 40s it is a bit like a disease especially when the menopause or perimenopause strikes and you need all the help you can get to disguise bags under the eyes etc. Luckily for me I’ve been on HRT for 5 years which vastly improved my skin but a good concealer is always useful.
I am very into the idea of HRT
Miracle Blur is actually miraculous. Love the BFF and am v tempted by the de-stress stuff but might have to drag my sorry self into Fenwicks as I find colour matching online an absolute arse because I have freckles and so don’t ever match any of the options – if I go for my skin colour, it’s too light, and freckle colour is too dark. Also absolutely zero clue as to what my undertones are ie yellow, pink, blue, whatever….Was colour matched for some ruinously expensive foundation at Pat McGrath stall in Selfridges and the vg woman there found it quite challenging but persevered and ultimately got it exactly right and the stuff is AMAZING. Sorry – gone off topic…
I was told look at your wrist veins – are they green or blue? if they’re blue then something or other. sorry that’s no bloody help. I am also freckly and I am a queasy mixture of pink, yellow, blue, grey, purple…
Haha. Some are greeny blue and some are purpley blue. So even if you did know what it meant we wouldn’t have got any further. I fear that neither of us should retrain as whatever the helpful people in shops who sell make up are called (make-up sellers?)
lol imagine the pair of us “ooooh you don’t need make up dear you’re fine as you are just a dab of Lansinoh and a boston clog and you’ll be right”
That is indeed my life ATM. With a Boston shearling clog in the arsenal, no other footwear necessary.
Right fine. FINE. I obviously need to try this, shipping cost to Australia be damned. It would be so amazing to have an under-eye concealer that actually works. Thanks for the review!
Ooh, I visited their counter in Fenwicks earlier this week (before lockdown!) and it was noticeably buzzy and welcoming unlike every other counter which was completely deserted. A lovely girl matched me by eye and gave me pots of bff destress to try and the under eye thingy and I let it settle for a couple of hours while I shopped. I really like the effect. Very good colour match and just enough glow to look fresh but not shiny. I had to dash back to my car so couldn’t return to buy but will definitely be ordering from the website.
I also ADORE Trinny’s Instagram. I could watch her ALL DAY and often drift off to sleep at night listening to her talk about retinols, sock lengths and all the many different shades of yellow…
